This is the Renault Clio RS16, which is the current generation of the Renault Sport Clio. This is the fastest Renault ever. This new version is given 1.6-liter engine combines with paddleshift transmission to replace the old 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo and standard 6-speed manual transmission that was used in the older version. It means, this car is no longer used the Megane 275 Trophy R engine and transmission. The new engine is able to bring up to 271 bhp and up to 265 lb-ft of torque. However, we cannot tell you how fast the acceleration of the new version because it is still a concept. But, if the target of Renault Sport’s 1.200 kg has been met, the Clio RS16 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph within 5.5 seconds with 150 mph of top speed.
Some photos of the Clio RS16 show us that the interior section of this car is full of racecar essences. When the door is swung open, there are lightweight bucket seat bearing full harness; the items where we see on sports cars. There are no seats at the back, there is only an empty space with a small fire extinguisher.
It seems that Renault has also improving the suspension of this Clio RS16 to be much stiffer than its older version. It is done in order to make it more balanced and stable when the driver step the throttle at high speed. The rear setup from Clio rally car is also applied as well as wheels and tires from Megane Trophy R that was registered in Nurburgring. Though with quite minimal changes, the Renault Clio RS16 will still be one of the best options for you who want to drive a small fast car. Do not ever think that this car will provide the same experience as its predecessor because the full changing of the powertrain will bring a sports car feeling.
